Staying Positive When It’s Hard

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

How can a person stay motivated despite what’s going on around them? I’m a pretty motivated person, but I’ve found it slightly challenging in the last few days to stay positive with so much going on in my personal and professional life. The main thing that is annoying me personally though is the fact that I can’t run! It’s been over six weeks for me, and I still have like five or six more weeks to go. And to top all of that off, I think I either re-fractured or re-injured my toe in some sort of way the other night. It’s puffy and swollen, but not discolored, so I don’t know what’s really going on. I’m due for a doctor’s follow-up visit in a week, so I’ll have a better idea then.

In the meantime, I’ve managed to motivate myself by trying to look at the things that I CAN do versus the things that I CANNOT do. Yes, I can’t run. There, I said it. But I do love spinning, so I’ve decided to take the gym’s spin classes during my recuperation period until the doctor says I CAN run again. That will give me a new (temporary) focus, help me control my weight and strengthen those vital muscles you need when you run. I just hope I can stay motivated until this time period is up. We’ll see how things go. What do you think?

The Actions of Others

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

We can’t change the actions of others, but we can only control ourselves and what we do. That is the stand I have decided to make today and as a reinforcement of that idea, I have posted today as my Facebook status:

Decidely, I WILL have a good day today. I know people and circumstances thought they had the best of me, but I have made a CONSCIENTIOUS choice to ignore the negative and embrace the positive. I can’t change the actions of others, but my eyes are on The Hill. That’s where my Help is.

When circumstances and situations try to get the best of you, it’s not good to become negative about it. That just feeds the energy for the problem and makes you feel worse. Take the sting out of it by being positive, full of faith and totally upbeat. Don’t let people change you or your attitude. Don’t allow people to control your feelings and your outlook on life. DECIDE within yourself to be positive, to think positively and to exude positivism. It will work if you let it.

Have a great day!

Staying Motivated Despite Challenges

Monday, February 1st, 2010

This has been a very busy weekend for me. Kensley had a cheer competition this weekend and we were running A LOT for the past two days. Although my life is busy (just like every other super-busy mother), I try my best to stay motivated and excited about life no matter what is going on in my life. I love life and all that God has to offer me. I try not to get bogged down in what’s wrong, what’s not going right or what I *wish* were different in my life. It is what it is. I accept ALL that God has to offer including the good and the bad and the in-between. I don’t pick and choose what my challenges from God are.

I just accept what God allows.
